Depending on where you go, the person administrating the procedure will use different products and techniques.

Clinical or Traditional

These types of facials involve an initial consultation with a trained therapist who assesses your skin first to determine the best course of treatment. Two common facials are deep cleansing and balancing treatments. With deep cleansing, the therapist will perform deep cleansing of the face to unblock pores. With balancing, a face with both dry and oily patches will receive gentle, yet thorough, cleansing to resolve problems.

When visible signs of aging begin to set in, some people begin having facials to combat wrinkles and sagging. These procedures involve the use of massage, which stimulates important muscles in the face. Massage also helps firm loosing skin. Some clinics call this process “rulage,” which is a French word that means lift and roll. After a firm massage, blood flow and oxygenation to the skin improvements, which may lead to visible tightening. The massage also helps the skin absorb special anti-aging solutions and products, administrated during the procedure.

Microdermabrasion and Exfoliation

Dull or uneven skin might benefit from brightening facials, also known as microdermabrasion. During the exfoliation process, the therapist buffs away dead and dull cells from the surface of the face. An exfoliation tool buffs away fine lines, wrinkles, minor scars, and areas of pigmentation. The tool can also reduce pore size. The treatment also typically includes the application of cream that improves tone and appearance. A hydrafacial is a special type of exfoliation process designed for sensitive skin. After cleaning and exfoliating, the professional applications a special acid peel that will remove all impurities. A suction device sucks the chemical product away, which also cleans out the pores. Special hydrating creams are applied after the cleansing process to moisturize.

Tips and Suggestions

Before proceeding with any treatment, the therapist should test all products first to ensure that you do not have an adverse reaction to the chemicals. Ask questions about the process if you have any doubts about what you need or want. A facial should target specific concerns and issues to help improve tone and firmness. This is not what you want to book as possibly; you want the whole spa treatment.

Did you realize that large and well-established mega hotels will offer a wide range of activities for people of all ages? Spas are not just for moms and dads or newlyweds anymore: feel free to bring the kid. In fact, many resorts offer childcare services and special clubs just for children. This can be a helpful commodity when you and your partner want to sneak away for some grownup time.

Some great things to keep in mind about resort spas are:

  • They are great for families and groups as many activities are offered to accommodate different hobbies
  • You have the freedom to eat and drink whatever you want, whenever you want
  • They are wonderful for families with kids in tow
  • They are a great choice for business travelers who need to rest and relax with a good massage

Relax and Rejuvenate in a Salt Cave

A salt cave is one of many therapies used by health spas. Its use is said to promote healing because of the natural salt properties. Not only can these rooms possibly help relieve allergies and asthma symptoms, they can also help you relax, decrease stress, and feel better both mentally and physically. They have been around for over 100 years and are popular in Eastern Europe. However, they have been gaining momentum in the United States in recent years in areas such as New York, Orlando, Chicago, and Los Angeles, to name a few.

What Makes It Such a Good Therapy?

The key to this helpful therapy is the additional exposure to the minerals found in the element, such as iodine, potassium, and bromide, things we do not get enough of in our everyday lives. These minerals have a natural calming effect on your brain. Also, because salt is antibacterial and antifungal, the air in these rooms is much cleaner than normal air. As you relax and breathe in the clean air, your breathing will slow and deepen as your airways open up. Experts say that after about an hour in one of these rooms, you'll naturally feel less stressed, re-energized, and healthy.

There are some devices that may be used to control the concentration of the element so that certain conditions can be treated more effectively. For example, if you are being treated for a specific respiratory problem, the concentration may be set to a higher level. The element helps this type of problem by pushing water into the airways, which thins and helps your body naturally remove mucus. At even higher concentrations, the therapy has been shown to help with skin problems such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. However, be sure to consult your physician before undergoing any alternative type of therapy for a specific medical condition.

What Does It Look Like?

A salt cave is designed to give you a different relaxation experience. Most rooms have a thick layer of salt on the floor. The walls and ceilings have the element incorporated in different ways, with some streaming down walls or hanging from the ceiling, much like stalactites. There are usually chairs or lounges for you to sit down, relax, and soak up the clean air. The room smells similar to the beach, and you will probably taste it on your lips. Natural, pure salt is normally used. Some places may use the rocky type, depending on the location.

You will likely be asked to wear some shoe covers to protect your shoes as well as the minerals. You may choose to wear the robe and booties provided. Most businesses provide rooms for multiple customers at a time, but some also offer private rooms and sessions.

A salt cave may be worth a visit if you want a different kind of natural relaxation therapy that may also help you with some common respiratory or skin conditions.

The Techniques of Anti-Gravity Therapy and Its Effects on the Body

Gravity is known to be a force that pulls all objects on the earth's surface towards the ground and thus is one of the major forces that the human body fights with. It has been proven that our brain is always engrossed in fighting with gravity where the brain tries its best to disburse the stress on the body and not focus on a single area. While we are sitting, the pressure of the entire body is thrown on the back whereas while standing, the pressure is put on the toes and the ankles. This excessive stress collected in certain body parts allows it to be affected and makes it painful. Even though the body tries its best to resist it, it ever gives way to tension.

How anti-gravity therapy works

As our brain constantly deals with issues of opposing the force of gravity, it often tends to overlook the bodily issues that it creates. There is stress that gets cluttered on certain parts of our body such as the feet, neck and shoulders and that is what creates pain. Often, these tensions or stress results in ailments such as headaches, ulcers, migraine, cardiac diseases, etc. To help you get rid of such stress, there are healing methods such as floating therapies or commonly known as anti-gravity therapies. While availing a floatation therapy, you would get mild sensations of pain and stress on several parts of the body. This is because your mind has stopped worried about how to deal with gravity and then the mild sensations pop up. Your body gets sensitive and thus letting the body heal all by itself while floating.

The benefits of Anti-gravity therapy

While you are afloat in a floating tank, you would naturally feel a calm sensation in your body. You would notice that right after the first session of therapy, the stress levels in your body has deteriorated. The mind and body further works together to make sure that the tension is released while your senses like sight, hearing and speech is blocked. You would automatically feel a sense of solitude and thus letting go of the pain in your muscles. The blood circulation in the body tend to be better and thus making the heart pump blood in a better way. While such changes take place in the body, the blood flow is better and thus reaching areas in the body that requires it to get healed.

Many people suffer from cellulite. This condition occurs as fat collects below the surface of the skin. It makes the area look dimpled due to the connective tissue allowing pockets of fat to protrude. Many clients find that this service not only helps to detoxify but in some cases, can actually help slim the body during the treatment. Many clients also find that their skin feels smoother and is tighter immediately following the service.

As with seaweed or algae, wrapping yourself in mud might not sound overly appealing. However, many clients find that this type of treatment helps to increase circulation throughout the covered area. This leads to the removal of toxins from the skin. It also helps to tighten and tone the skin. Those who have stiff muscles and suffer muscle pain also found relief during their treatment.

A Historical Guide to Salt Caves: How Halotherapy Can Improve Respiratory Health And Other Ailments

It's funny that a simple substance that most of us take for granted could be one of the oldest and most valuable compounds on Earth. Salt is responsible for opening trade routes through the developing world, was a critical element of preserving food, started wars, and used as currency. The argument could easily be made that salt is one of the driving forces of civilization. This argument would have been flawed, however, unless it took into account the healing properties that salt has offered human beings for thousands of years.

Have you ever noticed that your complexion is clear, or a wound has healed, after a day at the beach? That's because you've been covered in the healing powers of salt, swimming in the ocean and breathing in the salty air. For years, humans have used salt to heal both external and internal ailments, from the dead sea of the Ancient Egyptians to the salt caves of Eastern Europe.

Salt Cave Therapy, sometimes referred to as Halotherapy or Speleotherapy, was never publicly acknowledged until 1843, when Dr Feliks Boczkowski – a Polish doctor at a salt mine in Wieliczka – wrote about the strikingly low levels of respiratory illness in the miners there, which he attributed to the salt cave air heavily satured with saline dust. Based on these observations his successor set up a spa and soon Salt Cave Therapy became a common treatment alternative for many chronic lung and skin conditions.

Halotherapy is an ancient practice that harnesses the anti-fungal, bacterial, microbial and inflammatory properties of the sodium chloride compound. Today, many people utilize salt caves and other types of halotherapy for a wide variety of reasons; ranging from improving skin complexion to fighting off common colds. Now, after years of believers making penalties to the accused underground salt caves in Europe, spas all over the world are opening up their own halotherapy rooms. In cities like New York, Orlando, Naples, Fla., Boulder, Colo., Chicago and Los Angeles, owners of these rooms are recreating the conditions of underground salt caves so that people can get the healing effects no matter their proximate to the nearest natural salt deposit.

In many cases, this therapeutic inhalation of salt is achieved with a halo-generator that disperse tiny salt particles into the air. Many of these rooms offer an unusually relaxing environment, including a negative ion environment meant to reduce the symptoms of asthma and other allergies, as well as promote relaxation, decrease stress and create an overall feeling of well-being.

Although an official medical verdict regarding halotherapy and the effect of salt caves has yet to be published, this type of healing has been utilized by humans for thousands of years and is only growing more popular. With enthusiasm for organic food and the green movement at an all-time high, it would reason to believe there is a potentially strong market for this therapy. After all, maybe there is something to this funny, simple substance, that could be the key to a healthy life.

A Spa Builds Trust

A spa services clients in a special way. Most businesses will never know their clients on the same level as a spa knows their. The client knowledge this sort of establishment commands is intimate, covering both physical and lifestyle needs. Establishing trust from the first encounter proves essential.

Trust comes from providing professional quality beauty and health treatments. While undergoing these treatments, clients must feel that they are being professionally pampered.

Maintaining Health Via the Senses

Decadence often gets a bad wrap: do not eat too much, do not drink too much wine, do not take it easy. Do not is almost a bit of a health crusade in some circles, one so clearly conveyed that many people stop embracing pleasure. Instead, they bore themselves to health.

Health does not equate to boredom. Healthy decadence helps prevent and control immune system issues as well as high blood pressure caused by stress. Healthy decadence boosts quality sleep, another component of fighting off metabolic diseases such as heart disease and Type 2 diabetes. A spa must show clients that life is luscious and can be enjoyed without damaging health. One way to do this is through the senses.

Treatments should spurn the sensation of immediate relaxation by appealing to the senses. A dimly lit room with the subtle scent of vanilla or fruit soothes client's nerves. Soft music helps quiet their minds, and lush blankets prepare the limbs for touch. These efforts also encourage clients to open up about the pains and stress they feel so that aestheticians and massage therapists can pay particular attention to those needs. Massage and skin treatments such as facials and body wraps benefit from these subdued atmospheres.

Professional Appearance

A decadent atmosphere must be bolstered by top-of-the-line equipment in addition to aesthetic and massage therapist certificates on display. Clients booked for extensive treatments, such as laser treatment, want to see that they are in good hands, not just being told that they are in good hands. Beside assuring clients, professional appearances and certifications protect clients. It ensures that they receive expert care for troubling issues. People undergoing certain treatments such as microdermabrasion are seeking to make a major changes in their appearance. They need this protection.

An establishment fails when it can not set an extravagant mood through the senses, balanced by a professional demeanor.

A Pleasant Goodbye

Clients should be sent out into the world feeling refurbished and appreciated, not rushed out the door so waiting clients can be treated. An excellent way to accomplish this is to offer refreshments for clients as they prepare to leave. Treatments are heightened by replenishing the system with water, fresh fruit, and light snacks such as almonds.

Some establishments can even offer wine. Wine celebrates a successful day of rejuvenation. There are plenty of reasons to raise a glass in cheers to that.

That's what a spa is all about.

Factual Overview and Benefits of Body Wraps

Daily life often results in the accumulation of toxins in the body, and as these chemicals collect, it's typical for people to begin experiencing health issues and pain. Problems can be minor, or they may be significant, depending on various circumstances. To fight this situation, some people choose alternative treatments. Body wraps are one option that might restore health. Explore this process and the benefits associated with it to see if it fits your needs.

Body wraps involve combining various ingredients to create a mixture that a technician applies them over the entire surface of the skin. Some common ingredients include lotions, mud, seaweed, and clay. After applying it, the technician will keep them in place with damp cloth strips or plastic sheeting. The cloth strips or plastic sheet helps keep a client warm and keeps the ingredients in place on the skin.

A technician will conduct a consultation prior to administering the procedure. During this consultation, an interview will take place to determine issues and a plan of treatment. The consultant will also take measurements of the client. Measuring and applying the treatment generally takes about 30 minutes. Then the patient remains inside the wraps for up to one hour. Unwrapping usually takes about 15 minutes to conclude the appointment.

Patients typically wear undergarments only during the procedure. Because the ingredients and wraps are wet, the undergarments will become damp. It is wise to bring along some to change into to wear home from the appointment.

People may experience a variety of benefits from body wraps. The herbs and other ingredients may help with detoxifying the body of chemicals. Effective hydration can also occur from the procedure and some people experience slimming and weight loss after the process. This usually happens due to water loss, which can be temporary. The technician may take before and after measurements to record the number of inches lost from the procedure. People who experience muscle and joint aches or issues with blood flow might benefit from the procedure. It also has many relaxing benefits for some people.

Body wraps typically result in ongoing results after the initial procedure. In fact, the positive benefits usually continue to work for up to one week after the appointment. Many people will continue to experience tissue reduction and a loss of excess inches. Wearing a contouring shaper will help increase these effects. It is also wise to pay attention to your diet during this time. If you avoid excess caffeine, sugar, salt, and alcohol, you may release toxins more readily. Drink between eight and ten glasses of water every day to flush out more toxins from the body. Avoid the use of heavy skin creams and lotions, as well as hot showers, during the first week after having the treatment. Dry brushing your skin may help with cellulite reduction.

As you explore the treatment, you may find that body wraps would be the perfect way to pamper yourself.

More Than A Day Spa: Four Ways To Improve Your Complexion

Your face is one of the first things that people will notice about you. In addition to reducing the appearance of wrinkles and age spots, having a healthy complexion can be beneficial to you overall health. In addition to regular treatments at a day spa, the following four tips will help you maintain a clean and clear complexion.

Drink Water

One of the best things you can do for your skin care routine is to make sure you stay ideally hydrated. Drinking water is one of the best ways to flush any impurities from your body, and it often results in a very clear and healthy complexion. The key to getting clear skin through hydration is to make sure that you are drinking enough to sustain your body. The old rule states that eight glasses of water a day is what everyone should drink to remain healthy. Instead, you need to calculate how much you need to have for your body weight. To do this, simply divide your weight in half and then drink that number of ounces of water per day.

Eat a Healthy Diet

Another great way to keep yourself looking great is to maintain a healthy diet. The goal should be to eat a diet of lean protein, whole unprocessed grains, and fresh fruit and vegetables. To improve your complexion, aim to eat fish that is high in good fats. These fats greatly enhance your face by providing nutrients that work to renew your skin. Also, try to eat organic as much as you can. The hormones that are used in meat and dairy can often wreak havoc on the epidermis.

Practice Proper Sun Protection

Another great way to maintain a healthy glow is to protect yourself from the sun. This can be done in the form of daily sunscreen use, wearing hats, staying out of the sun, or all of the above. You should also make every effort to be out of the sun during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between twelve and two in the afternoon. Your sunscreen should be at least SPF 30 and needs to be re-applied every two hours. Taking these precautions not only reduces wrinkles and premature aging, but it also helps reduce your risk of getting skin cancer.

Regular Facial Treatments

Another great way to prevent premature aging is to get facials at a day spa on a regular basis. Typically, once a month facials is enough to create a glowing complexion. The Benefits of Spa Water Treatment

Hot tub spa water treatment has long been known to be beneficial for our health. Egyptians used hot baths to invoke relaxation and ease pain as early as 2000 BC In Ancient Greece they even used natural hot springs as hospitals. Medical research shows that hot tub therapy does provide safe and effective health benefits, so these ancient cultures really were on to something.

Reduce stress and sleep better

Spa water treatment will help you relax, physically as well as mentally. Invite your family and friends over and have a chilled out chat while the hot tub's jets give you all a relaxing massage.

How about getting reflexology massage in your own home? Just place your feet in front of the jets in your plunge bath. Your feet contain thousands of nerve endings, and stimulating them can help to improve your overall well-being and mood.

If you're having trouble sleeping you should get in the hot tub before you go to bed to sleep more soundly. The hot water will help to relax your body and the increase in body temperature will help you fall sleep quicker. If you just have a soak in a regular bath tub, the water will gradually cool down, where the water in your hot tub stays warm all the time.

Happy heart and joints

We all know that having a high blood pressure is bad, and although a lot of us want to get better at exercising doing this can often raise our blood pressure as well as out heart rate. Jacuzzi spa water treatment will raise your heart rate to a similar level as physical exercise but without raising your blood pressure. Like aerobic exercise it raises your heart rate and improves blood circulation, but without the sweat and risk of high blood pressure.

The improvement in circulation is not just good for your heart but also your joints. People suffering from arthritis could really benefit from regular soaks in a tub of warm water. The buoyancy of the warm water encourages freer movement because it supports and lessens stress on the joints. Key elements to the well-being of arthritis sufferers is warmth and massage, a hot tub provides both.

No need for a masseuse

If you suffer from sore muscles a dip in your Jacuzzi can do you a world of good. Getting a hot tub spa water treatment will make your body release endorphins, the body's natural feel good chemical, also known as a natural opiate. Not only do endorphins make you feel good, they also block pain, which in turn will help you relax and let your body heal if you've got sore muscles from exercising your body, along with all of your built up stress. All without the expense of a masseuse or therapist.

Relax while improving your health

You probably already knew a Jacuzzi is great for relaxing, and now that you know about the added health benefits, what are you waiting for? Treat yourself and relax in a hot tub today!

Interview With a Man Who Has an Essential Oil Home Distilling Business

Interview with Jonathan from Pejuta Distillers

What are your favorite essential oils and why?

I like the native plant essential oils that live around me, mainly the various Sages of California. These are medicinal plants I have been around my whole life and these plants are used in religious ceremonies I participate in. They are sacred and holy and we pray with them in a good way. I also love my sore sandalwood from East India which is scarce, but I have an excellent source that is and has been producing the best sandalwood I have ever seen really like this. This sandalwood is above the Hawaiian and other species.

What essential oil business advice do you have to young distillers?

Go slow be patient and listen to the plant material your working with.

What do you want to do with your business 5 years from now?

I want to have various California native plants growing in nurseries and farming them on a large scale, for sustainable essential oil distillation. These plants I love the most are not available in mass quantities, so I can not distill enough to sell to the public. only once we have sustainability in place we will be able to have the medicinal oils available to the public.

What attracted you to distilling?

I am a massage therapist and I use essential oils in my practice for aromatherapy and pain management. I would smell many oils from many different companies and kept wondering there has to be away to make my own and have better quality then what is sold by most of the best essential oil companies. I wanted to provide the best quality possible to my clients and help them as much as I can.

Tell me about your last distilling project?

I recently met with a California tribal native American man who showed me various new medicinal plants and their uses. Plants that cover California Los Padres National forest. We are distilling these plants and using them for healing in Native American religious ceremonies. These plants and their essential oils are among the strongest of all the healing properties I have ever seen.

What will be your next project you will be working on?

And how do people follow you?

My next project we will be working on is Blue Eucalyptus which is an excellent eucalyptus variety that is featured in many of my healing essential oil blends.

Can you talk about the challenges of distilling?

Distilling both wild crafted and farmed plant materials is a lot of much work and very time consuming for sometimes the really low oil yields. Not to mention the expenses of gas, and paying for a still and a hand to help run the still. I definitely presents many challenges- but yet it is well worth it in the end product that is produced.

You have a new website for your home business.
Tell me about it?

I just recently launched my new website which is a 3 in 1 website that incorporates all 3 of my businesses into one and they seem to go hand in hand. is an umbrella for pejuta distillers, pejuta massage, and pejuta jewelers.

What is a good book about essential oil distillation?

I have never seen a book on essential oils distilling, just books on safety usage like Robert Tisserands book called Essential Oil Safety which is a great book by the way.

Do you know a good film, documentary about essential oil distilling?

I love the movie called “Perfume”

What essential oils do you have for sale now? What are they good for?

We have Lavender, Lavendin, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, White Sage, Lemon, Orange, Sweet Orange, Grapefruit, Bergamot, Tangerine, Cocoa, Clove, Sandalwood, Mysore, Frankincense, Myrrh, Blood Cedar, Yellow Cedar, Cypress, fir, Helichrysium, Oregano, Patchouli, Owyhee, Peppermint, Spearmint, and Ylang Ylang And all these essential oils I carry are great for all purposes.

What advice do you give people interested to distill essential oils?

There is a certain level of quality and energy contained in the essential oils that you make yourself. You can not find this type of quality in a store because most commercially sold oils are mass produced and you lose that level of quality.

When you harvest things by hand and make them with love they will always be better.

I try to source many oils from other fellow artisan distillers cause the oils they make blow most of these oils on the market out of the water. If you have any questions or need pointers along the way do not be afraid to ask. Especially when purchasing your still make sure it's the right fit for you and what your needs are. Best oils you will ever use will be the ones you distill yourself! There is nothing out there like it, It's such a fulfilling experience and privilege.

How do you work? What is a typical day?

It starts typically a sun up to sun down all day affair of long hours and working in the hot temperature. Gathering, processing and distilling is an excellent way to exercise as well!

Is essential oil business good for local farmers?

I work with 3 farmers now and plan on working with various farmers in the near future and to tell you, it is very good for local farmers.

What are you doing when you are not creating oils?

Well, when I am not usually working my other business making fine jade jewelry or providing clinical and relaxation massage- I love to surf and scuba dive and spearfish in the ocean. I love the ocean. Mainly I love spending time with my lovely wife and two beautiful daughters Tessa, Jade and Willow.
