Demystifying Spa – Erotica Versus Mindful Healing

The Spa Industry has emerged significantly as a luxurious elite lifestyle sector and woos funds from top business circles. It has turned the tradition of the personal masseur into a licensed licensed and accredited body of professionals that demonstrate strength in management of ethics, hygiene, comfort, care and pleasure in a healing framework. It is based essentially on applications of hydrotherapy as a form of natural wellness, programmed in socially aligned markets, yet merges in practice with the massage therapy industry. The mixed identity belongs to the involvement of the liability category.

Spas and bathing houses as hammams, were known over the ages in Rome and Turkey, to have deteriorated from community bathing ideals into licentiousness, scandal and promiscuity. They never escaped their image of community notoriety. Massage in Bangkok was used as a prop to attract customers and tourists into deviant styles of eroticism and casual intimacy against fees. Many big cities had their sleazy dens of erotic massage on sale or under cover. The spa industry at its exorbitant cost, struggled to grow officially despite tricks to the trade and a parallel less community of trafficking, where young girls were taught the trade and bartered. Hygiene and safety invited huge investments viz regulators, sometimes to minimize contagious venereal diseases that spread around the world.

Standards and Accreditation boards united to define this powerful industry, which became compulsory for top end hotels to own. Hygiene, safety, ethics, boundaries, environment, dressing code, privacy laws and laws against sexual harassment to therapists have since been well documented. Massage and hydrotherapy systems have been standardized for arrangement of training and therapist skills requirements. Industry objectives and definitions have been marked for individual interests and for global values. This has formed the basis for spa management and business, financial forecasts, expenditure and recovery.

It sees the tyranny of the underworld was overlooked as the controls to the spa markets remained with the erotic component more than with the regulators. Spa therapies progressed in its research and potential for healing and has been organized in advanced scientific category as alternative medicine. This latter industry associates to doctors, physical therapists, healthcare workers and researchers. Their systems and metrics, disposition, skills, study and activities were visible to the public. Therapy has a market service value in relation to the expertise of the practitioner, rather than in relation to the cost of the spa landscape. Accreditors have managed institutional programs based on academic merit. Spas generally have offered in house, branded courses for their employees to train in their company standards. Their therapists are young with only basic skills to manage standard operating procedures. They are not arranged to assessment and therapy at clinical levels.

Spa therapies cover practices of basic Swedish massage and also of massage traditions as ayurveda, balinese, thai, shiatsu and reflexology. These massages have been arranged into services in spa menus that support wellness and a luxurious lifestyle. Pools, aqua aerobics, watsu, jacuzzi; s, chill pools, steam baths, sauna, jet baths, dry floatations and many other packages are common territory. Some spas have the capacity to meet with the higher ordeals of therapy rituals and transform the clients body-mind through touch therapy, nutrition, zen meditation, music and yoga.

Spas also may offer sports massage, lymphatic drainage massage, cranio sacral therapy, deep tissue massage and neuromuscular massage therapy that provide scientific support for medical management. This is arranged with privacy, comfort, specialized assessment and predictable recovery in a time managed solution.

Spa often merges with the beauty industry where its place is significantly controlled. Beauty services for face, hair and body, are based through dermatological and cosmeceutical infusions handled manually. Standards for equipment, towels, body wraps, scrubs, products, display, space, tray and therapist grooming is clearly marked. Spa woos and retains customers through its advanced hospitality systems. Corporate controls are thorough and exact based on their goals. A zen spa will show organizational alignment to healing rituals, zen space, mindful living and mastery of treatment through the tsubo.

As the field continues to grow and attract clients, awareness improvements. Expensive therapies filter out the nuisances created by common man practices that are unhygienic, community based, public and cheap. Health farms and other categories of healing trades have emerged to eradicate the erotica and myth from the industry. Therapists have combined to list directories of capable, qualified practitioners, and have arranged forums for their business to remain impactful.

Spa Industry influencers should work towards elevating the consciousness of humanity, and diverting them from the lower frequencies of existence. Free webinars, rewards, business support and recognition, and accreditation may support accomplishing this. Laws may be enforced to penalize perverse practices. This is within the scope of modern ideals. Yet it remains a puzzle why the commander in control remains an alien.

Scientists have researched the effects of indoor plants on humans. In one study in 2008, connected with Dutch researchers, plants were placed in hospital rooms to see if they could determine any medical or emotional benefits to having plants; the results were intriguing. The study found that the patients who had the indoor plants reported experiencing reduced levels of stress during their stay as opposed to the patients which rooms did not have any living plants.

The NASA Clean Air Study was led by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the results showed that having live plants in a room enhance the atmosphere, provide tension and stress relief, and promote stress reduction. Also, certain species of indoor plants have been found to clean and purify the air from household toxins ranging from cleaning solutions to gasoline from autos. Other common indoor air pollutants include formaldehyde and benzene.

Should You Try Reflexology?

Talk about alternative therapies and reflexology may come into the conversation. A lot of people, including medical professionals think it's a load of hooey and that it does not help anyone ever. But then there are the people who swear by it and say that it helps them immensely, so who is right?

It of course depends on the person. If you enjoy reflexology and it makes you feel better then by all means keep it up! The medical community does not say you should never partake, only that it will not heal major diseases alone and that if you delay 'proper' treatment of those diseases it can become a life threatening issue.

So we'll just deal with the day to day ailments, those that are not life threatening and those that may just feel better after some reflexology treatments. Reflexology itself is the ability to stimulate nerve function, give the body an energy boost and help with circulation. It is also said to be able to treat urinary tract infections and to reduce sleep disturbances but these claims are still to be proven.

It consist of a therapist manipulating your hands, feet and sometimes even the ears as it is thought that each part of your foot and hand corresponds to another part of your body. If you have a problem in your leg for example, there is a pressure point on your hand or your foot that will help to alleviate that problem. Trouble with your liver? There's a spot for that too.

Centuries ago, reflexology was thought to rebalance your qi, which is not just a great word to play in Scrabble, but an unseen life force that can become cloudy over time and needs to be reset. This is where medical professionals become a bit confused as you can not see the qi so how can you fix it? If you believe, however, that your qi is off and you want to see a reflexologist to get it back to normal, go ahead. Sometimes believing in something is a powerful aid in getting back to feeling good.

In short, reflexology should not be used solely to treat things like cancer or other diseases alone. If you have a problem you should consult a doctor and get second opinions as needed, but for little things that can benefit from a nice foot rub or a palm massage, reflexology is a nice treat for yourself at the spa.

What’s In Your Spa Water?

We all know that drinking water is good for us. It is drummed into us seemingly at every turn, and while it's been proven time and time again, water is just, well, boring. While drinking water after a long run or having been out in the hot sun is very refreshing, sometimes we just want to kick it up a notch of two and that's where spa water comes in.

No, it's not a new brand, just an idea that has been around for as long as there have been spas. Back in the day, people would flock to the Alps to breathe in the fresh air and get back to nature. They'd also be given cucumber in water as the ultimate in a healthy drink. Spa water was born (as was bottle water, but that's an article for another day!)

Today we put all sorts of things into our water to give it a kick of flavor, because we all know we drink more than it when it tastes good, right? Surprisingly, cucumber water is very tasty, it is fresh and clean tasting and really brings out the cucumber-y taste. While it may seem weird to put a vegetable into water, it's really not, despite fruits of course get more of a look in.

Strawberries, apples and cinnamon, oranges, lemons, limes and even pear can be put into water in any mix you'd like which not only livens up the water but gives you the goodness (vitamins, minerals and general good stuff) of the fruits all at the same time.

Any sort of berry also works well in water, simply prick berries with a toothpick or fork to get the juices flowing and you have yourself a fun drink.

Now you may be thinking that you need some fancy container to run around town with and of course there are many on the market, but in reality all you need is a water bottle with a top large enough to put what you want inside. Does not have to be fancy, just has to work, right?

The best thing about spa water though is the fact that you can customize it to your tastes, put what you want in whatever combination you want into that water and you're good to go. The health benefits are two fold since we already know that all of the elements are good for us!

Ways To Detox At The Spa

We are bombarded with toxins each and every day. They are in the foods we eat, the air we breathe and in things we touch but most of us do not give it a second thought. More and more, though, people are beginning to understand the business of detoxing, that is, ridding our bodies of the toxins that build up over time.

The good news is that there are many ways we can detox our bodies, and most of them are readily available at a spa near you. Now you can be pampered and be doing something good for your bodily systems all at the same time. Most of us have heard of the steam room or sauna where we go to sweat out all the bad stuff that's floating around inside of us. This is usually done after other treatments, and opens up the pores, leaving you refreshed inside and out.

Fancier ways to detox, however are numerous. Take for example the lymphatic drainage massage, one that promises to boost circulation, drain trapped water and toxins out of your body and is done by gentle movements on your face, neck and body. Sounds relaxing, right? Then there's the seaweed bath (which can also be done with salt). Here you soak in a big tub filled with seaweed, salt or a combination of both and allow the minerals to enter your body while the water draws out the toxins.

If a soak is not for you, you can take in a salt scrub or a seaweed wrap, and there are also mud baths and mud wraps that do the same thing, leaving your skin soft and your mind exhilarated.

While some people would jump at the chance to go to a spa, for others it's just too touchy feely and they're probably doing something a little less invasive. Enter the ionic detox, something that many chiropractic offices offer around the country. Here you simply put your feet into a bowl of warm salty water and let the array (a copper attachment) push and pull the ions through your body, bringing toxins out with them. You'll be amazed at the color of the water when your treatment is done! All of that was just swimming around inside of you, those accumulated toxins that we pick up during the course of every day.

Detoxing your body is a good way to rid it of what you do not need, and heck, you may just get some pampering in there while you're at it!

Nail Artistry

Nail art. It's creative and sometimes crazy. It is ingenious and sometimes wacky. It is interesting, sometimes festive but always arty. Nail art is something that a lot of people do, with nail salons featuring manicures and pedicures booming and seemingly on every corner. Some people opt to get their nails done by a professional, others go it alone and it's part of the fun of many a slumber party. But where did it originate?

Painting our nails come from Ancient Egyptians where women would dye their nails with henna to indicate their social status. If you were in the lower classes, your nails would be pastel or neutral colors, leaving the bold jewel tones, the deep, bold shades to those in the upper classes.

Around the same time, in Babylonia it was the men who were dedicated to nail painting and nail art. They would either sport green or black nails, black for the noblemen and green for the common man and they would paint the nails as they prepared for war. They would also curl their hair and partake in additional beautification processes all before heading out to fight.

At around 3000 BC, in China, nail polish was first made. It was formulated from beeswax, gelatin, egg whites, vegetable dyes and gum arabic. The people would dip their nails into the mixture and let it sit for a few hours before being allowed to dry. The colors ranged from pink to red depending on the specific ingredients and how long you had left your nails to soak in the mixture.

That's all about painting nails one color, but in the Inca Empire they actually painted eagles on their nails and by 1770 the first manicure sets were created and widely available for purchase. By the 1800's people were getting 'modern' manicures or what we would think of as modern anyway, and in 1907 the first modern nail polish was developed. At first it was just clear, but through the years they added colors and well, we know how many different colors and features nail polish of today has.

Today we have shiny polish, matte polish and polish with glitter added. We can have velvet manicures, we can have pictures painted on our nails and we are not limited to one color for all 10 fingers or toes, as the fashion dictates at least one fingernail be a different color. What's next with nails ??

Improve Recovery Times With Float Therapy

The Golden State Warriors are the winners of the 2017 NBA playoffs. One of the team's most popular players, Stephen Curry is contributed with helping the team reach victory. No doubt fans across the world are interested in everything the player does; however, many are unaware that Curry uses float therapy as a way to help his body recover from basketball season.

Curry is not the only athlete that utilizes float therapy for recovery. Here Brady of the New England Patriot and countless UFC fighters all use sensory deprivation chambers as part of their training and recovery. Increasing numbers of professional athletes of all levels are now turning to this alternative wellness to help their bodies recover faster. Why does float therapy have such a significant impact on recovery times? Let's discuss the science behind it and how the sensory deprivation technology can help improve recovery time.

Physical Recovery with Floatation Therapy

Float therapy essentially combines two well known recovery techniques, Epsom salt soaks and meditation. For years, Epsom salt baths were used to heal the body of aches and pains, while meditation was used to heal the mind.

Float therapy magnifies the benefits from Epsom salt baths and meditation alike. When someone enters a float chamber or tank, their senses are stripped. Also known as sensory deprivation, because you're enclosed in a tank or isolation chamber that is free from any outside distractions. This includes light and sound. This sensory deprivation makes it easier for a person to enter a meditative state.

The water used is in a float tank is filled with a thousand pounds of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). Only a few inches of water is used, making the salt concentration extremely high. The high salt concentration allows the body to float effortlessly.

Athletes have been soaking in Epsom salts to ease sore muscles and stiff joints for years. Floating in an isolation chamber only works to increase the effectiveness of this well-known technique, making it effortless with more benefits.

Recovery Benefits of Floatation Therapy

It has been established that float therapy aids in the speedy recovery of sports injuries, aches, and pains. The following are other benefits that float therapy provides for physical recovery:

-Reduces muscle fatigue

-Improves blood flow and circulation

-Reduces stress causing cortisol levels

-Reduces infection

Even if you're not a professional athlete, your body can benefit from floatation therapy. Have you been a car accident or suffered a work-related injury? If so, float therapy can be used to help speed up your recovery time.

Deep Tissue Massage Versus Swedish Massage – What’s the Difference?

When we go through the list of services offered at a spa, we often tend to imagine how each massage therapy might be like, before deciding on what we would like to avail. Often, we end up availing a random massage, because the name is very fascinating. In the end, after the massage, we conclude that all massages are the same. But in reality, every massage is different than the other and each massage has its own benefits.

Let's know the difference between Swedish massage and Deep Tissue Massage.

Swedish massage is a type of massage that utilizes firm pressure on the muscles. It also involves a series of long gliding strokes. This massage uses various essential oils which have various aromatic benefits and these oils help reduce friction as well.

Swedish massage increases blood circulation in the muscles which eases the tension in the body and improves flexibility. It stimulates the skin and the nervous system, hence, soothing the nerves and reducing both physical, mental and emotional stress.

A Swedish massage involves the application of five strokes, namely:

1. Effleurage – Long flowing strokes that allow the therapist to spread the oils on the body and feel the muscle tone.

2. Petrissage – Kneading strokes that lifts and squeezes the tissues, flushing out the metabolic waste in that area.

3. Friction – A type of stroke that involves fast short movements creating heat in that area that brings blood flow to that area. This helps in loosing the ligaments.

4. Tapotement This stroke is often known as 'the karate chop move', it involves a series of light blows to the body which helps in relaxing the muscles.

5. Vibration This stroke creates movement in the entire body. When done properly, results are very relaxing.

Deep tissue massage Is a type of massage that aims at targeting the deep tissue structure of the body muscles. This massage is mainly primarily on the connective tissues.

Deep tissue massage helps in fast recovery of small muscle injuries and chronic problems. This massage is an excellent way to deal with sports injuries, postural misalignment, treating spasms and muscle tension. It also helps to release specific chronic muscle tension like the muscular knots and adhesions.

This massage involves a series of slow, specific, and deliberate strokes, which is best for postural deviances and abnormal muscle tone. The therapist here applies several different strokes depending on the type of the muscle that they are working on. During this massage, the muscles will slowly begin to loosen up, allowing the therapist to move along it.

Why Fitness Is The Essence Of Overall Wellness

If you are looking forward to overall wellness, then you have got to know that fitness is the essence of it. Unlike the popular perception, achieving fitness is not that difficult. You can not judge the fitness of a person by just looking at that person. Experiences have taught me that the fittest looking person might not be the one who impresses you with his or her fitness levels. So, it's pointless to have unrealistic views about fitness. As far as fitness is concerned, the health of your heart is extremely important. Probably, you lack a typically “fit” looking body. But that does not mean that you are not fit. You can be fit irrespective of the way your body looks. Cardio fitness is the real measure for fitness. If you are really serious about fitness, then you have to channel your energies to improve the health of your heart. When your heart is healthy, other aspects like increased lung capacity, strong bones, strong muscles, weight loss etc. will follow.

Understanding the concept of fitness

In today's world obsessed with fitness, we have complicated the concept of fitness. According to the basic definition, fitness is all about your ability carry out your daily chores without fatigue. A fit person will be able to carry out his chores with alertness and vigour. Back in the day, people used to have that ability. They were all physically active. They were all fit. So, there was no need to talk about fitness. However, things have changed a lot. Lifestyle diseases have become common these days. We do very less physical activities as our jobs force us to stay glued to our seats all day long with zero physical activity. And that has contributed to lot of lifestyle diseases. No wonder why we talk about fitness more these days because we are all worried about our fitness levels. Lack of physical activities made us susceptible to all sorts of health problems.

Significance of fitness

The sedentary lifestyle has made way for a lot of diseases. And people have realized the significance of regular exercise to stay fit. However, not too many are able to follow it given the hectic lifestyle. If you want to stay away from many diseases, then it is important to do cardio exercise on a regular basis. As we all know, heart disease has been one of the notorious silent killers. Stroke, diabetes, colon cancer etc. are other diseases which are connected to lack of fitness. There are plenty of benefits for regular exercise. Along the health benefits, you will be able to control your weight as well. In turn, you will be able to fight aging too.

Psychological benefits of exercise

Exercise has many psychological benefits as well. When you exercise, it releases the feel good hormone endorphins, which significantly reduces stress. And it will elevate your mood as well. It has the ability to fight depression as well. If you are one of those fitness freaks who exercise on a daily basis, then you will have a positive attitude towards life. Also, you tend to have better self-esteem. Exercise gives you better sleep at night. You never complain about fatigue either. Last but not least, regular exercise can improve your memory as well.

The amount of exercise to stay fit

Well, this has been a hotly debated topic for years. Different people will give different advice. But one thing is definite – regular exercise is the best strategy. How long should you exercise? Well, 30 minutes a day would be more than enough. And if you are able to extend to an hour then it is better. Some people would suggest that doing exercise 5 times a week is a good strategy. Well, doing it every day is a far more effective strategy. Exercise is like drinking coffee. Your brain gets addicted to the feel good hormones and craves for it every day. For the same reason, your brain will remind you to do exercise every day. That's like following a natural clock. Your brain knows what is best for your body. Therefore, doing it every day will make it easier for you to get adjusted to the natural cycle.

Remember, fitness is the key to your overall well-being. So, it is time for you to embrace it!

Spa Body Treatments

We can probably guess that massage is the number one treatment that people get at the local spa. Massages are relaxing and have many benefits that come with them, but so do body scrubs and these treatments are very large the bridesmaids of the spa menu. Not sure what to expect from a body scrub? Well, read on!

Body scrubs go by a lot of different names. They can be called a body polish, a salt glow or a sea-salt scrub just to name a few. Whatever the name, the process is pretty much the same with all of the scrubs; the aim is to exfoliate and soften the skin.

You will start by laying on a typical massage table and the scrub will be applied by a trained professional. They may contain salt, sugar apricot kernels, coffee grounds, oatmeal or any other abrasive ingredient along with essential oils and usually some sort of aromatic ingredient for added appeal, and according to the recipe that you have chosen. The abrasive ingredient works to rid the body of the old dingy cells to reveal youngger looking cells that are just under the surface. The oil helps to give your body that soft feel.

After about fifteen minutes of application and massaging of the scrub into your body, you will be asked to shower the scrub off. This leaves your skin feeling invigorated and soft. If you are having both a scrub and a massage, the experts suggest doing the massage second in the day.

Other takes on body scrubs are the body mask or wrap where mud, algae or seaweed is applied to your body and followed by a thermal wrap. This detoxifies the body and stimulates the metabolic system that helps the body rid itself of waste products.

A typical hydrating treatment consists of a thick cream or lotion being applied to the body and then being wrapped in the thermal blanket. This allows the lotion to penetrate the skin for a deep down hydration and that soft skin we all strive for.

While massages will likely be the number one choice at the spa for a while to come, now you know what to expect from a wrap or scrub maybe, just maybe they will become a little more popular too. With the benefits that they hold and the fact you can do them with a massage on the same day, why not try one for yourself?
